Nokia Lumia 925 needs to evolve

Quick Review of Nokia Lumia 925:

‘While the world & peers are excited about iPhone 6 & Samsung Galaxy Note 4, you would say, ‘why is he writing about Nokia Lumia 925’ That is me, examining what I am or what I do and sharing, instead of looking at others....

I picked up Nokia Lumia 925 (White) for the following reasons:
1.   Should be able to use most of the functions or applications in the Smartphone model.
2.   Document editing application was primary requirement followed by Carl Zeiss Lens Camera of around 8 MP. Above average processor. Rest of the configuration should be average.
3.   Pocketable, preferably in a Holster Case Cover.
4.   Windows based OS, preferably Nokia make as I wanted to have minimum learning curve, seamless compatibility with other window devices that I use. The lack of applications on Windows platform is often quoted as a limitation. True in sheer number, its less, however all the applications I wanted were there in Windows store. Nokia make, because, I have sequentially upgraded from Nokia 5110, Nokia N73 & Nokia E71 all along at an average period of 30-36 months. They were too good. In fact, Nokia E71 is still functioning optimally with present day applications. Its slow, that’s all. I had to change only for the reason of family pressure. Finally, I think Nokia & Microsoft would be deadly synergistic combination.

All this time, I would take inputs from tech savvy & sharing Dr Gajendra Singh; this time I let it go.

1.   External look is classy & slender. The White colour of the device is restricted to back cover only. Not even the sides. I don’t find any reason to pay extra for small portion of white surface.
2.   Got latest Windows 8.1 upgrade immediately after purchasing.
3.   Transferring Contacts, Calendar and messages had to be done using Nokia Suite latest version > Upload the data to Sky Drive and subsequently it updates on mobile. It needs lot of ingenuity & time. The transfer should have been more seamless especially after Microsoft owns Nokia now.
4.   Absence of preloaded File Explorer is surprising. Again, here I had to read support literature and then I downloaded the File Explorer from Windows application store.
5.   I am using Nokia Lumina 925 with Airtel mobile service provider. The call drops frequently. This would not happen with other mobiles & Airtel in my house itself. It worsens when WhatsApp is on. I find some problem with configuration of Airtel service provider and Nokia Lumina 925. Amongst all applications, I have found WhatsApp application to have overriding in its task – notification is first, download is first when compared to messages, emails. Takes up too much of battery power too.
6.   Battery life is very poor with Data pack use, more specifically, WhatsApp & Internet media file use. Battery consumption is much more than other mobiles for sure. I have to recharge battery at least twice a day if I use WhatsApp uninterruptedly. That’s very unusual of Nokia make.
7.   Nokia Lumia 925 has screen that is very sturdy and scratch resistant. It’s having Corning Gorilla Glass 2 with Super sensitive touch property. Shri Vishant Patil took a steel scale and scratched the surface to demonstrate its resistance quality.

Though I am a fan of Nokia and I thought Nokia with Windows would be synergistic, the product needs to evolve. Call dropping, fast discharge of battery and connectivity issues with WhatsApp (Not sure whether it is due to service provider) are major drawbacks!

If anyone of you are using Nokia Windows Smartphone, do share your inputs, so that we could keep the conversation going on the group platform or individually..

Impressive Visvesvaraya Technological University, Regional Centre, Gulbarga

Impressive Visvesvaraya Technological University, Regional Centre, Gulbarga.

During the recent visit of the Senate Committee, RGUHS to Visvesvarya Technological University, Regional Centre, Gulbarga, we were amazed to note the earnestness of Prof Baswaraj Gadgay, Special Officer & PG-Cordinator, who happens to officiate as Director too.

Though I had visited the CET counseling of my daughter at VTU Regional Centre, the full scale Campus activity wasn’t obvious.

Presently, the VTU Regional Centre is educational hub for PG in Engineering & Management courses. Students have hostel facilities for both boys & girls. The academic atmosphere is supported by upcoming State of the Art Library & fully equipped Audio Visual Seminar Hall (Image below).

The landscape of the campus is very impressive. It houses a myriad water fountain that reminds us of the Brindavan Garden, Mysore. It is being upgraded to Musical Fountain, which could be a destination for citizens of Gulbarga.

The enthusiastic Special Officer, Prof Baswaraj Gadgay was looking for collaborative academic interactions with Medical Science, Central University and other established colleges of this region. He was forthcoming in developing the VTU Regional centre as an academic hub by having Academic Seminars & CMEs conducted there.

The whole package of the Regional Centre was a revelation to me, hence I thought of sharing the same with you all.

Dr Subhash Chandra Show - How to Enhance Creativity - Episode 3

Dr Subhash Chandra Show - How to Enhance Creativity - Episode 3

Dr Subhash Chandra continues communicating his learning in robust Hindi, sprinkled with English keywords. However, by third episode the enthusiasm from Dr. Subhash Chandra seems to have notched down a level. That was abetted by fluid & off-the-cuff framework. Dr Subhash Chandra forte is not academic & conventional knowledge nor his command over English. If he sticks to his learnings with relatable anecdotes, it would be more effective. That learning can be placed under a traditional heading in a structured way. That would carry through the programme successfully.
Contents of the talk:
Monetary impetus is not needed for manifesting creativity. Fulfilment is in accomplishing the creative task.
Understanding consciousness and the difference between activity and action has resulted in Zee group coming up 9 new businesses that were never started in India. Not making an exaggerated effort to be creative leads to fulfilment, rather than an anxiety. Relaxed attitude manifests.
Becoming creative or having creative power is nature. Creativity gets destructed when it is obstructed.
Hurdles to create creativity:
  1. Self-Consciousness is the biggest hurdle to manifest creativity. Consciousness is different from self-Conscious. Consciousness has no idea of the ego, no barrier, its clean, Wholesome with nature.
  1. Aiming to be perfect/perfectionist: Pearls of Wisdom: Real creator knows that he has not created anything. Existence has worked through him rather than he creating anything.  The creativity has possessed him rather than he possessing creativity.                                   God has not created any perfect thing. Perfect outcomes and perfectionists are dull & uninteresting.             Dr Subhash Chandra gives an anecdotal: Zee TV has created us rather we creating it. He qualifies by stating Subhash Chandra was the same. It was Zee TV on telecasting, gave Subhash Chandra the identity of creator. In the real act of being creator, the artist’s self disappears. The less of the artist is in his work the art becomes more perfect. Artist is mystical (magical). Not only technically right but existentially authentic.
  2. Intellect
  3. Belief: Creator will carry no belief. His belief is in his learning. When you have belief, you are closed, while a creator has never closed mind, he is always open, ready to explore further. Experience takes you from the known to the unknown. Experience is never finite, unfinished. Great creations are always unfinished.
  4. Fame Game: Work should be the joy itself. The love of the work automatically leads to fame.  Work should be important. If fame comes easily its fine. Loving your own work is more beautiful & celebrating. Fulfilment is in working.
Characters that would facilitate creativity:
  1. Be a child:
  2. Be a learner with positivity:
  3. Find nirvana in ordinary things. Be the nirvana in the ordinary thing. It need not be the hallmark of the Art alone. Nirvana can be found in ordinary things too.
Finally, Dr Subhash Chandra suggests the audience to spread the message of creativity as much as one has understood and more importantly start practicing

Dr Subhash Chandra Show - Creativity - Episode 2

Dr Subhash Chandra Show - Creativity - Episode 2

This episode of Dr Subhash Chandra deals with creativity. Very simple and clear understand of creativity is put across. Some salient points stressed are: Creativity is individual based, creator can be alone, and it can’t be collective wisdom or collective thought. Action is the first step of creativity. While, activities that are repetitive and boring are never creative. He gives a mantra of 3 ‘C’. Be conscious of yourself and compassionate, leads to creativity automatically. Dr Subhash Chandra invokes consciousness by practicing Vipasana regularly. I am inclined to watch this programme regularly.

Dr Subhash Chandra Show - Success Mantra - Episode 1

Dr Subhash Chandra Show on Zee News & Zee Business - Success Mantra - episode

First generation Marwadi business magnet joined family business at the tender age of 17 years in adverse situation. The family business was in debt and he stepped in to swim through it successfully. This barely educated – 10th pass guy is heading a big empire of Essel Group with the flagship Zee Entertainment.
He started with Food Grain business and presently manages 6 businesses. He closed 3 businesses that failed to be No 1 or strong No 2 in the sector.
This self-created tycoon is the right person to communicate or share his learnings. Doing that on TV channels drew me to my interest. I always believe self-learning lessons are more effective than conventional text book learnings. In that direction, I have watched 3 episodes this far. I have made noting & have also written my opinion on YouTube. For whatever value it bears, they are being posted here, rather crudely.
Anecdotal quote: Power of innovation; A porter who was observing the difficulty of Dr Subhash Chandra & spouse in packing a overfilled bag at Bangalore airport, helped without exerting any visible pressure. Impressed, Subhash Chandra picked up the porter. Today, that porter manages 32 manufacturing units based across continents as Chief Engineer. Life mein kuch bhi ho sakata hai!
First identify your Talent. Repeated behaviour is your Talent. Shape up the thinking and thought process. What is belief: Belief gives you motivation.
However do you regain motivation after failure: maintain equanimity: The moment you start believing, no one can touch me, its the beginning of your fall.
Meditation: train your mind according to situation: Accept the reality > if you have failed in something don’t fight it.
Good show that makes one feel motivated at the end of the show. It is effective for the reason that people can relate, endear as it is straight-forward without any artificial sophistication. Really, learnings of the life! Must watch

Select Music Tracks that would take one to a different plane

Only for people who have sensitivity towards mysticism:

Here are some music tracks that would take one to a different plane. Kindly consider hearing them preferably with a head phone in quietness. They are long duration tracks, you could choose the duration depending on your inclination, however you may listen to all of them.

Review of Kangchenjunga Diary by Madabhushi Madan Gopal

Review of Kangchenjunga Diary by Madabhushi Madan Gopal

Though ‘Kangchenjunga Diary’ in the initial instance, appears to have been intended to niche group of hard core trekkers undertaking the Nepal route to Kangchenjunga, the book pulls through amazingly well even in the hands of the uninitiated.

After the opening inertia, the later part takes momentum to keep one engaged & interested. The author describes his start into trekking, progress along the years and his love for Himalayas, more specifically Kangchenjunga. The adventurous streak, some would say dare devilry in not only taking the Nepalese route, covering both North-South base camps, but accomplishing them with his spouse.

Although, it’s in diary format taking the reader through his sojourn chronologically, the author is successful enough in conveying the habits, traditions, culture, socio-economic situation, governance of the place; he is bowled over by the sincerity and abundant goodness of the Sherpas. The book has many minute observations including the poster quotes, which would have slipped the mind of the lay.

Amidst the description of his trek, he subtly sprinkles his spiritual association, philosophical take on interactions and situations; the riddle he faces & explains the spiritual reasons in conflict situations. The emotional descriptions are varied, at places, romantic, familial & spiritual experiences. He has no qualms of describing his fondness and attention towards a well-dressed pretty lady. His heart speaks aloud!

Elsewhere, while his spouse has to negotiate a life risking path, he surrenders ‘Ek Dujhe ke liye’ style, offering his life to the steep valley as a gratitude to the creator.

The book is lucid in style, with quality print and photographs. Conspicuously for a maiden effort, there is no Printer’s devil. His all-inclusive free spirit personality manifests in spontaneity, expressiveness, myriad emotions and frankness all through the book.

The author could have considered a brief representative schematic route every few pages/chapters as it’s a diary. That would keep a naïve trekker/reader more involved.

The author should consider a sequel that could also have trekker guidebook like content so that the readership reach would be wider.

Along the course of the book, the reader too gets evoked and experiences the spiritual halo. At the end I felt light, refreshed and enthused richly. It speaks all!
